PROGRAMS

Monarch Child Development Center's programs focus on engaging children in fun activities that foster their growth. Children are given a variety of experiences to explore, discover and enjoy the world we live in. Our daily programs stimulate learning and give children a solid foundation for future academic success and personal development.

Stepping Stones is our transitional program designed to assist children in making the smooth transition from a familiar environment to an unfamiliar environment. For new enrollees, parent and child will be invited to tour facility and spend some time in the classroom he/she will become a part of. As a result, parent and child feels comfortable in knowing Monarch Child Development Center is a place where learning is fun. Children currently enrolled in Monarch Child Development ing Center will follow the Stepping Stones program allowing each child to transition from one environment to another by taking small steps. The steps are as follows:

Step 1 - Monarch Caterpillars (Infants) transform into Lil' Wobblers I (12-17 months)
Step 2 - Lil' Wobblers I transform into Lil' Wobblers II (18-23 months)
Step 3 - Lil' Wobblers II transform into Busy Tots (2 year olds)
Step 4 - Busy Tots transform into Beginning Explorers (3 year olds)
Step 5 -Beginning Explorers transform into Monarch Butterflies (4-5 year olds)

This program gives children the opportunity to become familiar with their new teacher, classmates and classroom by spending time in their future classroom before they transform. Children and parents gain the confidence they need knowing that our center is a safe, secure, loving and nurturing environment.

Extracurricular

Children at Monarch Child Development Center will have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities such as gymnastics, dance, and field trips. Many parents choose to take advantage of these activities because of the convenience and reduced cost compared to private instruction.

Reading

The A Beka Reading Program is used at Monarch Child Development Center. It has been successful nationwide for many years because it teaches students basic reading skills using an intensive phonics program. Besides building the necessary background for confident reading, teaching phonics trains students to listen carefully, to obey willingly, and to develop good habits of thinking, analyzing, organizing, memorizing, and applying important facts and rules.

Math

Traditional mathematics using the A Beka Book is used at MCDC. Number skills are taught and reinforced. Some of these skills include: Number recognition, number concepts, formation of numbers, simple addition and subtraction combinations, telling time, number sequences, number words, and working with money. Various activities are planned for children to enjoy math while making it a positive, success-oriented experience.

Our Arts program introduces children to various arts such as music, acting, and craftmaking. Some of the age appropriate activities planned for children include: fingerplays, songs, drama, painting and creative movement.

The clear teaching of the Bible is the foundation for all learning. Bible lessons are taught to children using the A Beka Book Bible Program. Since Bible is a very important subject at MCDC, it is taught daily so that students become thoroughly acquainted with the basic portions of the Scriptures.

Children are introduced to the importance of good health habits. MCDC's nutritional meals are based on the basic food groups and assist in developing good eating habits by introducing children to a wide variety of foods, including fruits and vegetables. Children learn the importance of exercise in their weekly activities. Some of these fun-filled activities include: creative dancing, jumping, hopping, and skipping. Other important health and safety tips children learn about are getting plenty of sleep, playground safety tips, and fire safety.

Outside play will encourage children at MCDC to develop social skills and practice thoughtful and courteous behavior during group play. Outside nature will also enhance aesthetic awareness and other forms of play.
