CURRICULUM

The curriculum used at Monarch Child Development Center will be the A Beka Curriculum. It is a lively academic curriculum which gives children an enjoyable educational foundation and a desire to learn more. The materials used are designed to excite children and please parents. This program was developed over the last four decades in the classrooms of Pensacola Christian Academy. It features hundreds of superior quality, God-honoring textbooks, learning aids and instructional manuals. Most children receiving A Beka reading instruction are reading independently - no matter what their age.

The A Beka curriculum includes well-designed phonics wall charts and flashcards for classroom teaching and a phonics handbook, workbook, and a set of readers for each child. It is impressively correlated with the A Beka Language Curriculum, which teaches Grammar, Spelling, Handwriting, Composition, and Vocabulary.

Monarch Child Development Center's - Monarch Caterpillars infant program is centered on the natural curiosity and energy of very young children. We will provide your infant with lots of love and attention, a variety of age-appropriate activities, story and music time and nurturing so baby's world is fun, interesting, safe and loving.

STIMULATING ENVIRONMENT

Our infant program provides a stimulating environment designed to enhance babies' development while allowing them to explore and learn at their own pace. At Monarch Child Development Center, we surround babies with colors, soft toys and pictures to stimulate exploration. Our safe age-appropriate equipment and soft cuddly toys are designed to meet each baby's developmental needs. We talk to infants, hold them and rock them to build a relationship and bond of trust.

At Monarch Child Development Center, our toddlers, Lil' Wobblers (1 year olds) are taught using the HighReach Learning Curriculum with activities that are designed to enhance your child's total development in a quality early childhood environment.

The HighReach Curriculum encourages toddlers to explore the world around them and helps build vocabulary, small and large motor skills, while teaching colors, self-concept, music, art, dramatic play, creative expression and socialization.

Our toddler program allows your child to spend busy, fun-filled days engaged in activities that promote learning and discovery as he or she plays. The focus is constantly on listening to and talking with children. We encourage their social, emotional and language development.

At Monarch Child Development Center we take learning very seriously. The early years for Pre-K 2 (2-year olds) and Pre-K 3(3-year-olds) are the most important for a child's brain development. Early learning can give children a solid foundation for academic success.

A special curriculum is designed to fit your 2 and 3-year old. For younger preschoolers, we offer the A Beka Curriculum. The A Beka Curriculum is a Christian-based educational program which introduces number skills, reading readiness, listening skills and language development. Computer and Spanish instruction is also part of the curriculum used. All 2 and 3 year olds wear uniforms daily and become part of a more structured environment. We also provide lots of fun opportunities for each child to develop personal interests at his or her own pace.

Monarch Child Development Center prepares the Monarch Butterflies – PK 4 (4/5-year olds) for early academic success in school. He or she will be academically ready for school upon leaving our center. For older preschoolers, we offer the A Beka Curriculum as well. The A Beka Curriculum is a Christian based educational program which introduces number skills, listening skills, language development, phonics, writing, and reading. Computer and Spanish instruction is also part of the curriculum used for Monarch Butterflies. Our 4/5-year olds also wear uniforms daily and are part of a structured environment for school.

We spend a lot of time talking and listening to our preschoolers. This positive interaction encourages the development of emotional, language, and social skills and enhances the development of positive self-esteem. To ensure children are kept interested, excited and engaged in learning, we also promote creativity and self-directed learning through fun-filled activities.
